Johanna Overmars is a remarkable woman who can keep many plates spinning in the air at one time as a mother, lawyer and horsewoman.
Having practiced for over 20 years, Johanna’s career has been varied working at places including the Family Court of WA, Legal Aid WA, the Women’s Law Centre and various Perth based family law firms until she established her own firm, Hills Hope Legal in Mundaring in May 2013. Johanna closed her firm in 2019 to start her family and after a short break returned to practicing part time.
Johanna can assist with all facets of family law including drafting consent orders, binding financial agreements, child support agreements, divorce applications, representation in court for both parenting and property matters and representation at mediations, conferences and arbitration.
Johanna considers the relationship between solicitor and client very important and akin to that of one between doctor and patient. It is important to her that clients feel comfortable, understand their choices and consider she is the right ‘fit’ for them.
Johanna is trained as a collaborative lawyer and is keen to work with other solicitors to streamline the process to reduce costs and delays.
Johanna brings a wealth of other knowledge to her family law practice with extensive experience in the areas of violence restraining orders and wills and estates.
Johanna was a member of the Racing Penalties Appeal Tribunal from March 2018 until July 2025 where she heard and determined appeals against penalties imposed in disciplinary proceedings for greyhound, horse and harness racing.
