Andrew Morrison is the joint Head of Family Law for our Brisbane office. After completing his Articles of Clerkship with a national law firm, he was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in March 1998. 

Andrew has a Bachelor of Laws degree from Queensland University of Technology, and a Master of Applied Law (in Family Law) from the College of Law. Andrew is also a Nationally Accredited Mediator. 

For well over 20 years, Andrew has practised almost exclusively in Family Law, including in the roles of Partner, Principal Lawyer and Head of Legal Services. He has considerable experience with complex parenting matters (including international/ “Hague Convention” matters), and property settlement matters involving businesses, companies, family trusts and self-managed super funds. 

Andrew has previously lectured in Family Law to post-graduate students of the College of Law, and for several years presented Family Law information sessions for the Refugee and Immigration Legal Service. He is a member of the Family Law Practitioners Association, Family Law Pathways Network Queensland, and the Queensland Law Society.  

Having a strong interest in helping clients work through the difficulties of a relationship breakdown, Andrew endeavours to always provide practical and common-sense advice.  

Described as patient and calm, Andrew is aware of the stress and anxiety which results from a relationship breakdown, and he recognizes the importance of showing empathy towards his clients. 

With a keen interest in assisting the community, Andrew previously volunteered with a local community legal service for over 20 years, and in 2015 this service was recognized with a Commonwealth Government Volunteer Award.   

In 2022, Andrew was also a finalist in the Queensland Law Society’s Excellence in Law Awards, in the “Access to Justice” category.
