Advocating for Child-Focused Family Law – Millie National Film Screenings Sponsored by Australian Family Lawyers

Australian Family Lawyers is proud to sponsor Millie, a powerful and visually stunning short film by Dr. Darren Mort that illuminates the emotional world of a child experiencing parental separation.

Told through the eyes of a young girl, Millie explores childhood trauma, dissociation, and the critical need for child-centered approaches in family law. Created by a world-class team including Head Creative Producer Jane Liscombe and award-winning cinematographer Pedro Greig, the film continues the impactful legacy of Mort’s earlier work, Tommy.

As part of the national launch, Australian Family Lawyers sponsored and hosted a series of exclusive professional screenings across Australia, each followed by expert panel discussions and networking sessions focused on keeping children’s voices at the center of family law.

Melbourne – 20 March 2025

The national launch began at Palace Cinema Como with a screening and industry panel, followed by a special book signing by Dr Darren Mort. Co-hosted with JustFund, this event set the tone for the meaningful discussions that continued across the country.

Sydney – 14 May 2025

Held at the State Library of NSW, this unforgettable evening featured a powerhouse expert panel including clinical psychologists, family violence specialists, and filmmakers. Hosted alongside JustFund, the event highlighted how Millie’s themes resonate deeply within family law practice.
