Nita Stratton-Funk & Associates

Nita is a prominent Family Law practitioner and has practised exclusively as a solicitor in the area of Family Law in Brisbane since 1983. She is an Accredited Family Law Specialist. In addition to her legal qualifications, Nita is a qualified social worker with a major in psychology. She is able to apply her training and experience in that field to this area of law.

Nita is a Past President and Past Secretary of the Family Law Practitioners Association of Qld having served as President from 1998 to 2000 and having served as a Committee Member from the mid-1990s. She is also a past member of the Family Law Sub-Committee of the Qld Law Society having served on that committee for 10 years. Nita has been a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council since 1985. She has written and delivered papers on property settlement, maintenance and parenting issues in the press, radio and television.

Between the years 2008 and 2013 Nita served on the Qld Law Society Specialist Accreditation Board as a Member of the Board.

Nita was the Family Law Partner of the firm, MG Lyons & Co, from 1988 and remained a partner on that firm through its merger with Ebsworth & Ebsworth until April 1999 when she established the boutique family law firm, Nita Stratton-Funk & Associates, Solicitors in Brisbane. She continued as a Principal of that firm until 28 June 2019.
